Child and Adolescent Therapy
This is a specialist area of therapy. I have substantial experience working with children and young people aged 5 – 18years. Many children and adolescents have issues that affect how they feel, behave, or learn. Therapy can help them to overcome these issues. In child and adolescent therapy, we talk, play and explore how to work out problems, express feelings and regulate behaviour. Therapy helps children and adolescents cope better, communicate better, and do better in relationships and often in education as a result.
Children as young as 5 years old can access this effective service.
How Does Therapy Work?
In therapy, children learn by doing. With younger children, I might work with the family. I might work creatively, play or talk. For older children and adolescents, I share activities and ideas that may help them talk through feelings and solve problems.I might meet with the child and parent together or meet with the child alone in a safe environment. I might also meet with the parent to give tips and ideas on helping their child at home
